The ITS supplement was reported a substantial reduction in the Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS) requirement for routine maintenance. ITS-M is a mixture of insulin, transferrin, and sodium selenite which designed for use in general basal media such as DMEM, RPMI-1640 and nutrient media such as Ham’s F-12 or DMEM/F12.
When ITS-M is used with a low percent serum, proliferation is reported to be similar to medium supplemented with 10 percent serum.
It enhances cell growing under serum-reduced conditions and could decrease the serum requirement of a variety of cell types.
